112th Boston Marathon ready to step off from Hopkinton

112th Boston Marathon ready to step off from Hopkinton-Some 25,000 runners are getting ready to make the annual 26.2 mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston.

Unlike the wet and windy conditions of a year ago, the weather for Monday's 112th running of the Boston Marathon should be just fine for athletes and spectators alike, with partly sunny skies expected and a high temperature near 60.

While the elite runners will be chasing the $575,000 in prize money, many others are trying to achieve personal bests or raise money for favorite charities.

Outside the Korean Presbyterian Church in Hopkinton, about two dozen Korean runners, their bodies wrapped in multi-color sashes, performed a traditional drum dance as they prepared to run for a Korean charity.

Most runners will leave Hopkinton at 10 a.m., with the elite female runners and wheelchair athletes getting a slightly earlier start.
