Escapee Bride's Former Groom Weds Another

Escapee Bride's Former Groom Weds Another-Groom's Father Says He's 'Very Happy' For Son

The man who was set to marry the runaway bride has finally tied the knot with someone else.

John Mason's father, Claude Mason, told People magazine his 35-year-old son married Shelley Martin last Saturday in a quiet ceremony at his parents' home in Duluth, Ga.

The elder Mason officiated the ceremony and said he's "very happy" for his son.

In 2005, John Mason's then-fiance Jennifer Wilbanks disappeared just days before their wedding.

She turned up a few days later in New Mexico claiming she had been kidnapped and sexually assaulted.

She later admitted the story was a fake.

Wilbanks served two years probation over the episode and performed community service.

Wilbanks and Mason ended their engagement and sued each other.

Those suits were later dropped.
